We provide the experience and technical skills needed to successfully and cost-effectively complete geotechnical investigations focused on characterizing permafrost and quantifying ground ice.

Our thermal design services compliment civil and geotechnical engineering to ensure high-performance above- and below-grade structures in permafrost environments. Previous thermal designs include frozen core and frozen foundation dams, roads, pads, pipelines, and tanks founded on ice-rich permafrost.  

We specialize in ground thermal modeling to evaluate permafrost response to infrastructure and long-term climate change. Our past ground thermal modeling has supported effective design and construction of critical infrastructure.

Ground thermal analysis is reliant on adequate ground temperature measurements. We use state of the art ground temperature cables and data loggers to characterize the ground thermal regime and permafrost.

Our team works closely with hydrologists and hydrogeologist to understand the dynamic interaction between surface and groundwater at project sites, including thermal erosion of ice-rich permafrost soils and advection of heat from groundwater movement.  

Our terrain and hazard mapping services focus on local-scale mapping for projects, including linear infrastructure corridors. We produce map products that effectively communicate permafrost conditions and natural and human-induced hazards to subject matter specialists, regulators and the public.

We use the latest technology to monitor performance of infrastructure constructed on ice-rich permafrost soils. Our approach has been proven to reduce risk and cost, allowing for timely implementation of mitigation measures.

Mitigation of permafrost disturbance is a highly specialized service based on our technical expertise and experience that aims to limit perpetual thaw of permafrost and improve infrastructure stability.
